莊子·漁父》:今漁者杖拏逆立,而夫子曲要折,言拜而應,得無太甚乎?
But to-day this old fisherman has stood erect in front of you with his pole in his hand, while you, bent from your loins in the form of a sounding-stone, would bow twice before you answered him - was not your reverence of him excessive?
史記·夏本紀》:貢維土五色,羽畎夏狄,嶧陽孤桐,泗濱浮,淮夷蠙珠臮魚,其篚玄纖縞。
Its tribute consisted of earth of different colours, the variegated pheasants from the valleys of mount Yu, the solitary dryandra from the south of mount Yi, and the floating musical stones from the banks of the Si. The wild tribes of the Huai brought oyster-pearls and fish, and their baskets were full of dark embroideries and pure white silken fabrics.
詩經·大叔于田》:叔善射忌、又良御忌、抑控忌、抑縱送忌。
A skillful archer is Shu! A good charioteer also! Now he gives his horse the reins; now he brings them up; Now he discharges his arrows; now he follows it.
尚書·禹貢》:厥貢惟土五色,羽畎夏翟,嶧陽孤桐,泗濱浮,淮夷蠙珠暨魚。
