Example usage

論語·為政》:死葬之以禮,之以禮。
That, when dead, they should be buried according to propriety; and that they should be sacrificed to according to propriety.
孟子·告子下》:無城郭、宮室、宗廟、祀之禮,無諸侯幣帛饔飧,無百官有司,故二十取一而足也。
There are no fortified cities, no edifices, no ancestral temples, no ceremonies of sacrifice; there are no princes requiring presents and entertainments; there is no system of officers with their various subordinates. On these accounts a tax of one-twentieth of the produce is sufficient there.
禮記·緇衣》:《兌命》曰:『爵無及惡德,民立而正事,純而祀,是為不敬。』
The Charge to Yue says (Shu, IV, Viii, sect. 2, 5, 11), "Dignities should not be conferred on men of evil practices. (If they be), how can the people set themselves to correct their ways? If this be sought merely by sacrifices, it will be disrespectful (to the spirits)."
孝經·喪親》:春秋祀,以時思之。
In spring and autumn they offer sacrifices, thinking of the deceased as the seasons come round.
揚子法言》:節莫差於僣,僣莫重於莫重於地,地莫重於天,則襄、文、宣、靈其兆也。
In the rules of ceremony there is no fault greater than usurpation. In usurpation, no fault is greater those than in making sacrificial offerings. In making offerings, there is nothing more important than the place of the ceremony, and in the place of the ceremony, nothing is more important than choosing a place to sacrifice to Tian. This being so, Duke Xiang, Duke Wen, Duke Xuan and Duke Ling built their temples.
