孟子·滕文公下》:不待父母之命、媒妁之言,鑽穴相窺,踰牆相從,則父母國人皆賤之。
If the young people, without waiting for the orders of their parents, and the arrangements of the go-betweens, shall bore holes to steal a sight of each other, or get over the wall to be with each other, then their parents and all other people will despise them.
禮記·三年問》:將由夫修飾之君子與,則三年之喪,二十五月而畢,若駟之過,然而遂之,則是無窮也。
Will he rather follow the example of the superior man who attends to all the methods by which the feeling of grief is set forth? In that case, the twenty-five months, after which the mourning of three years comes to an end, will seem to pass as quickly as a carriage drawn by four horses is whirled past a crevice. And if we continue to indulge the feeling, it will prove to be inexhaustible.
論衡·道虛》:致生息之物密器之中,覆蓋其口,漆塗其,中外氣隔,息不得洩,有頃死也。
If living and breathing creatures are placed in vessels with a lid on, having all their fissures carefully filled, so that the air cannot circulate, and their breath cannot pass, they die instantaneously.

When once I receive my frame thus completed, I remain unchanged, awaiting the consummation of my course. I move as acted on by things, day and night without cessation, and I do not know when I will come to an end. Clearly I am here a completed frame, and even one who (fancies that he) knows what is appointed cannot determine it beforehand. I am in this way daily passing on.
