以讓卞隨。	after which he proposed to resign the throne to Bian Sui,
卞隨辭曰：	who declined it, saying,
「后之伐桀也謀乎我，	'When you were about to attack Jie, and sought counsel from me,
必以我為賊也；	you must have supposed me to be prepared to be a robber.
勝桀而讓我，	Now that you have conquered Jie, and propose to resign the throne to me,
必以我為貪也。	you must consider me to be greedy.
吾生乎亂世，	I have been born in an age of disorder,
而無道之人再來漫我以其辱行，	and a man without principle twice comes, and tries to extend to me the stain of his disgraceful proceedings
吾不忍數聞也。」	- I cannot bear to hear the repetition of his proposals.'
乃自投稠水而死。	With this he threw himself into the Zhou water and died.
