凡祭宗廟之禮：According to the rules for all sacrifices in the ancestral temple,
牛曰一元大武， the ox is called 'the creature with the large foot;'
豕曰剛鬣，the pig, 'the hard bristles;'
豚曰腯肥，a sucking-pig, 'the fatling;'
羊曰柔毛，a sheep, 'the soft hair;'
雞曰翰音，a cock, 'the loud voice;'
犬曰羹獻，a dog, 'the soup offering;'
雉曰疏趾，a pheasant, 'the wide toes;'
兔曰明視，a hare, 'the clear seer;'
脯曰尹祭，the stalks of dried flesh, 'the exactly cut oblations;'
槁魚曰商祭，dried fish, 'the well-considered oblation;'
鮮魚曰脡祭，fresh fish, 'the straight oblation.'
水曰清滌， Water is called 'the pure cleanser;'
酒曰清酌，spirits, 'the clear cup;'
黍曰薌合，millet, 'the fragrant mass;'
粱曰薌萁，the large-grained millet, 'the fragrant (grain);'
稷曰明粢，the sacrificial millet, 'the bright grain;'
稻曰嘉蔬，paddy, 'the admirable vegetable;'
