長安秋多蠅。段成式嘗日讀百家五卷，頗為所擾，觸睫隱字，敺不能已。偶拂殺一焉，細視之，翼甚似蜩，冠甚似蜂。性察於腐，嗜於酒肉。按理首翼。其類有蒼者聲雄壯，負金者聲清，聽其聲在翼也。青者能敗物，巨者首如火。或曰，大麻蠅，芋根所化。出《酉陽雜俎》
