《說文》曰：羌，西婼羌戎牧羊人，從人牧羊。

2 婼羌:
《漢書》曰：出陽關，自近者始，曰婼羌，國王號去胡來王。去陽關千八百里，去長安六千三百里。西接且末。隨畜逐水草，不田作，仰鄯善、且末谷。山有鐵，自作兵甲，有弓矛，服刀劍。劉德曰：服刀，拍髀也。師古曰：指音貊，髀音俾，又音陛。
