晋挚虞决疑云:“父亡,服竟,继母还前亲子家,当为何服?此有问:‘有夫妇生男女三人,遭荒乱离散,不知死生。母后嫁,有继子。后夫未亡,得亲子信,请就亲子家,后夫言可尔。后数年,夫亡,丧之如礼,服竟,随亲子去,别继子云:“我则为绝,死不就汝家葬也。”而名户籍如故。母今亡,继子当何服?服之三年则不来葬,服之周则无所嫁。’博士淳于睿等以为,当依继母嫁,从为服周。博士孙绰议曰:‘父答虽有可尔之语,夫妻枕席相顺之意,固非决绝之辞也。继母丧父如礼,服竟之后,不还私家,逾岁历年,循养无二,母恩不衰。适见亲子,专自任意,无所关报,私随其志,绝亡夫,背继子,违三从正义,亦为大矣。今母虽不母,子何缘得计去留轻重而降之哉!夫五服有名,不可谬施。施之为出,出义不全;施之于嫁,嫁义不成。欲降服周,于礼何居?名在夫籍,私归亲子,丧柩南北,礼律私法,订其可知,便决降服。许令制周,颇在可怪。’博士弟子北海徐叔中难孙云:‘以前问不立甲乙为名称,于议不便。今以母为甲,先夫为乙,后夫为丙,先子为丁,继子为戊。丙言可尔,必虑事宜,顺其至情,非虚欺也。临终不命,知死之后,制不在己故也。甲不重求,信之前言也。本有求还之计,去誓不还葬之辞。生则己不得养,死则不与己父同穴,就不成嫁,当为去母,附之于嫁,不亦宜乎?’”
