卫孔文子使太叔疾出其妻，而以其女妻之。疾诱其初妻之娣，为之立宫；与文子女，加二妻之礼。文子怒，将攻之。孔子舍璩伯玉之家，文子就而访焉。孔子曰：“簠簋之事，则尝闻学之矣。兵甲之事，未之闻也。”退而命驾而行，曰：“鸟则择木，木岂能择鸟乎？”文子遽自止之，曰：“圉也岂敢度其私哉！亦访卫国之难也。”将止，会季康子问冉求之战，冉求既对之，又曰：“夫子播之百姓，质诸鬼神而无憾，用之则有名。”康子言于哀公，以币迎孔子。曰：“人之于冉求，信之矣，将大用之。”
