10 嫁娶:
天子下至士,必亲迎授绥者何?以阳下阴也,欲得其欢心,示亲之心也。夫亲迎轮三周,下车曲顾者,防淫佚也。《》云:“文定厥祥,亲迎于渭。造舟为梁,不显其光。”《礼昏经》曰:“宾升,北面奠雁,再拜拜手稽首,降出。妇从房中也,从降自西阶。揖御妇车,授绥。”

22 嫁娶:
人君及宗子父母,自定娶者,卑不主尊,贱不主贵,故自定之也。《昏礼经》曰:“亲皆没,己聘命之。”《》云:“文定厥祥,亲迎于渭。

24 嫁娶:
王者之娶,必先选于大国之女,礼仪备,所见多。《》云:“大邦有子,人见天之妹。文定厥祥,亲迎于渭。”明王者必娶大国也。《春秋》曰:“纪侯来朝。”纪子以嫁女于天子,故增爵称侯,至数十年之间,纪侯无他功,但以子为天王后,故爵称侯。知虽小国者必封以大国,明其尊所不臣也。王者娶及庶人者何?开天下之贤示不遗善也。故《春秋》曰:“纪侯来朝。”文加为侯,明封之也,先封之,明不与圣人交礼也。

太姒者,武王之母,禹后有莘姒氏之女。仁而明道。文王嘉之,亲迎于渭,造舟为梁。及入,太姒思媚大姜、太任,旦夕勤劳,以进妇道。太姒号曰文母,文王治外,文母治内。太姒生十男:长伯邑考、次武王发、次周公旦、次管叔鲜、次蔡叔度、次曹叔振铎、次霍叔武、次成叔处、次康叔封、次聃季载。大姒教诲十子,自少及长,未尝见邪僻之事。及其长,文王继而教之,卒成武王周公之德。君子谓大姒仁明而有德。《》曰:“大邦有子,俔天之妹,文定厥祥,亲迎于渭,造舟为梁,不显其光。”又曰:“大姒嗣徽音,则百斯男。”此之谓也。

In a large State was the lady,
Like a fair denizen of Heaven.
The ceremonies determined the auspiciousness [of the union].
And in person he met her on the Wei.
Over it he made a bridge of boats; -
The glory [of the occasion] was illustrious.
