21 道德經:
孔德之容,唯道是從。道之為物,唯恍唯惚。忽兮恍兮,其中有象;恍兮忽兮,其中有物。窈兮冥兮,其中有精;其精甚真,其中有信。自古及今,其名不去,以閱衆甫。吾何以知衆甫之狀哉?以此。
Dao De Jing:
(The empty heart, or the Dao in its operation)
The grandest forms of active force
From Dao come, their only source.
Who can of Dao the nature tell?
Our sight it flies, our touch as well.
Eluding sight, eluding touch,
The forms of things all in it crouch;
Eluding touch, eluding sight,
There are their semblances, all right.
Profound it is, dark and obscure;
Things' essences all there endure.
Those essences the truth enfold
Of what, when seen, shall then be told.
Now it is so; 'twas so of old.
Its name - what passes not away;
So, in their beautiful array,
Things form and never know decay.
How know I that it is so with all the beauties of existing things? By this (nature of the Dao).

抱朴子曰:「余聞之師云,人能知一,萬事畢。知一者,無一之不知也。不知一者,無一之能知也。道起於一,其貴無偶,各居一處,以象天地人,故曰三一也。天得一以清,地得一以寧,人得一以生,神得一以靈。金瀋羽浮,山峙川流,視之不見,聽之不聞,存之則在,忽之則亡,向之則吉,背之則凶,保之則遐祚罔極,失之則命彫氣窮。老君曰:忽兮恍兮,其中有象;恍兮忽兮,其中有物。一之謂也。故仙經曰:子欲長生,守一當明;思一至飢,一與之糧;思一至渴,一與之漿。一有姓字服色,男長九分,女長六分,或在臍下二寸四分下丹田中,或在心下絳宮金闕中丹田也,或在人兩眉閒,卻行一寸為明堂,二寸為洞房,三寸為上丹田也。此乃是道家所重,世世歃血口傳其姓名耳。一能成陰生陽,推步寒暑。春得一以發,夏得一以長,秋得一以收,冬得一以藏。其大不可以六合階,其小不可以毫芒比也。昔黃帝東到青丘,過風山,見紫府先生,受三皇內文,以劾召萬神,南到圓隴陰建木,觀百靈之所登,採若乾之華,飲丹巒之水;西見中黃子,受九加之方,過崆峒,從廣成子受自然之經;北到洪隄,上具茨,見大隗君黃蓋童子,受神芝圖,還陟王屋,得神丹金訣記。到峨眉山,見天真皇人於玉堂,請問真一之道。皇人曰:子既君四海,欲復求長生,不亦貪乎?其相覆不可具說,粗舉一隅耳。夫長生仙方,則唯有金丹;守形卻惡,則獨有真一,故古人尤重也。仙經曰:九轉丹,金液經,守一訣,皆在昆侖五城之內,藏以玉函,刻以金札,封以紫泥,印以中章焉。吾聞之於先師曰:一在北極大淵之中,前有明堂,後有絳宮;巍巍華蓋,金樓穹隆;左罡右魁,激波揚空;玄芝被崖,朱草蒙瓏;白玉嵯峨,日月垂光;歷火過水,經玄涉黃;城闕交錯,帷帳琳琅;龍虎列衛,神人在傍;不施不與,一安其所;不遲不疾,一安其室;能暇能豫,一乃不去;守一存真,乃能通神;少欲約食,一乃留息;白刃臨頸,思一得生;知一不難,難在於終;守之不失,可以無窮;陸辟惡獸,水卻蛟龍;不畏魍魎,挾毒之蟲;鬼不敢近,刃不敢中。此真一之大略也。」

《漢枚乘七發》曰:楚太子有疾。吳客往問之曰:伏聞太子玉體不安,亦少間乎。今夫貴人之子,必宮居而閨處,飲食則溫淳甘膬,衣則雜遝曼煖,雖有金石之堅,將猶銷鑠而挺解也。況其在筋骨之間乎。且夫出輿入輦,命曰蹶痿之幾,洞房清宮,命曰寒熱之媒,皓齒蛾眉,命曰伐性之斧,甘脆肥醲,命曰腐腸之藥,今太子膚色靡曼,四支委隨,筋骨挺解,越女侍前,齊姬奉後,往來遊宴,縱恣乎曲房隱閒之中,此甘餐毒藥,戲猛獸之爪牙也。雖令扁鵲治內,巫咸治外,尚何及哉。客曰:太子之病,可以要言妙道說而去也。不欲聞之乎。太子曰:僕願聞之。客曰:龍門之桐,高百尺而無枝,中鬱結之輪囷,根扶疏以分離,上有千仞之峰,下臨百丈之谿,湍流溯波,又淡淡之,其根半死半生,冬則烈風漂霰飛雪之所激也。夏則雷霆霹靂之所撼也。朝則鸝黃鳱鴠鳴焉。暮則羈雌迷鳥宿焉。獨鵠晨號乎其上,鶤雞哀鳴,翔乎其下,於是背秋涉冬,使班爾斫斬以為琴,野蠒之絲以為絃,使師堂操張,伯牙為之歌。歌曰:麥秀●兮雉朝飛,向虛壑兮背喬槐,依絕區兮臨迴池,飛鳥聞之,翕翼而不能去,野獸聞之,垂耳而不能行,蚑蟜螻蛾聞之,柱喙而不能前,此亦天下之至悲也。太子能強起而聽之乎。為之右,於是使射千鎰之重,爭千里之逐,此亦天下之至駿也。太子能強乘乎。客曰:既登景夷之臺,南望荊山,北望汝海,左江右湖,其樂無有,乃下置酒於娛懷之宮,連廊四注,紛紜玄綠,輦道邪交,黃池紆曲,溷章白鷺,鴛鴦鶤鵠,鵷鶵鵁鶄,翠鬣紫纓,女桑河柳,素葉紫莖,松柏豫樟,條上造天,梧桐栟櫚,極望成林,乃發激楚之結風,揚鄭衛之皓齒,雜裾垂髾,目窈心與,榆流波,雜杜若,蒙清塵,被蘭澤,嬿服而御,此亦天下靡麗皓侈廣博之樂也。太子能起強遊乎。客曰:將為太子馴騏驥之馬,駕飛軨之輿,乘牡駿之乘,右夏服之勁箭,左烏號之雕弓,周馳兮蘭澤,弭節乎江潯,掩青蘋,遊清風,陶陽氣,蕩春心,逐狡獸,集輕禽,於是極犬馬之才,困野獸之足,此校獵之至壯也。太子能強遊乎。客曰:榛林深澤,煙雲暗漠,兕獸並行,毅武孔猛,袒裼身博,收獲掌功,賞賜金帛,旨酒嘉肴,羞包膾炙,以御賓客,貞信之色,形以金石,高歌陳唱,萬歲無斁,能起強遊之乎。太子曰:僕甚願從,直恐為諸大夫累耳。客曰:將以八月之望,往觀濤乎廣陵之曲江,足以駭矣。恍兮惚兮,憀兮慄兮,虹洞兮倉天,極慮兮崖涘,汩乘流而下降,或不知其所止,當是之時,雖有淹病滯疾,將傴申起蹶,發瞽披聾而觀望也。況直眇小煩懣,酲醲病酒之徒哉。太子曰:善,然則濤何氣哉。客曰:聞於師曰:其始起也。淋淋焉若白鷺之下翔,其少進也。浩浩溰溰,如素車白馬幃蓋之張,其波涌而雲亂,擾擾焉如三軍之騰裝,其旁作而奔起也。飄飄焉如輕車之勒兵,太子能起觀乎。客曰:將為太子奏方術之士,有資略者,若莊周魏牟楊朱墨翟詹何之倫,使之論天下之精微,理萬物之是非,孔老覽觀,孟子持籌而筭之,萬不失一,此亦天下要言妙道也。太子豈欲聞之乎。於是太子據几而起曰:渙乎一聽聖人辯士之言,霍然病已。

唐梅權衡,吳人也。入試不持書策,人皆謂奇才。及府題出《青玉案賦》。以油然易直子諒之心為韻。場中競講論如何押諒字。權衡於庭樹下,以短箠畫地起草。日晡,權衡詩賦成。張季遐前趨,請權衡所納賦押諒字,以為師模。權衡乃大言曰。押字須商量,爭應進士舉。季遐且謙以薄劣,乃率數十人請益。權衡曰。此韻難押,諸公且廳上坐,聽某押處解否。遂朗吟曰。恍兮惚兮,其中有物;惚兮恍兮,其中有諒;犬蹲其傍,鴟拂其上。權衡又講。青玉案者,是食案,所以言犬蹲其傍。鴟拂其上也。衆大笑。出乾𦠆子
