| I am a descendant of Emperor Gaoyang; my late father was named Boyong. The year was Sheti Zhen in the first lunar month, on the Gengyin day I was born. My illustrious father measured my birth and bestowed upon me a praiseworthy name. He named me Zhengze, and gave me the courtesy name Lingjun. I am endowed with these inner virtues, and further adorned by cultivated abilities. I wear the fragrant Jiangli and Bizi, and string together autumn orchids as my ornament. Time flows swiftly as if I cannot keep up; I fear the years will not wait for me. In the morning, I pluck magnolia from the hills; in the evening, I gather night-blooming herbs from the isles. The sun and moon pass swiftly without lingering; spring and autumn succeed each other in turn. As the grass and trees wither, I fear that the fair one will grow old before her time. Why not grasp youth and cast off filth? Why not change this course of action? Ride the swift Qiji to gallop ahead; come, I shall lead you on the path. |
