《春秋》,大義之所本耶?六者之科,六者之旨之謂也。然後援天端,布流物,而貫通其理,則事變散其辭矣。故志得失之所從生,而後差貴賤之所始矣。。立義定尊卑之序,而後君臣之職明矣。載天下之賢方,表謙義之所在,則見復正焉耳。幽隱不相踰,而近之則密矣。而後萬變之應無窮者,故可施其用於人,而不悖其倫矣。是以必明其統於施之宜,故知其氣矣,然後能食其志也;知其聲矣,而後能扶其精也。知其行矣,而後能遂其形也;知其物矣,然後能別其情也。故唱而民和之,動而民隨之,是知引其天性所好,而厭其情之所憎者也。如是則言雖約,說必布矣;事雖小,功必大矣。聲響盛化運於物,散入於理,德在天地,神明休集,並行而不竭,盈於四海而訟聲詠。《》曰:「八音克諧,無相奪倫,神人以和。」乃是謂也。故明於情性乃可與論為政,不然,雖勞無功。夙夜是寤,思慮惓心,猶不能睹,故天下有非者。三示當中孔子之所謂非,尚安知通哉!
