司空，空是工的通假字，是中國、朝鮮古代官名。西周始置，位次三公，與六卿相當，與司馬、司寇、司士、司徒並稱五官，掌水利、營建之事，金文皆作司工。
春秋、戰國時沿置。宋國因宋武公名叫司空，所以將司空改為司城。孔子曾任魯國的司空。
漢朝本無此官，成帝時改御史大夫為大司空，但職掌與周代的司空不同。東漢將大司空改為司空，與太尉、司徒（丞相、大司徒改任）並稱三公，一直延續到宋徽宗時，仿周制，以太師、太傅、太保為三公。遼朝、金朝三公還是太尉、司徒、司空，元朝時設時廢。明朝、清朝還是以太師、太傅、太保為三公。
