起居舍人是中國古代官制，隋煬帝始置，隸屬內史省。唐初廢舍人，改為起居郎。顯慶三年（658年），另置起居舍人，隸屬中書省。龍朔二年（662年）改起居舍人為右史，記載皇帝言行與國家大事，並送史館記錄存留。宋朝沿置。
