《草木子》，元、明年間筆記，共四卷，元末明初葉子奇撰。葉子奇於洪武年間曾任巴陵縣主簿。洪武十一年（1378年）二月十五日春天，有群吏在城隍廟竊飲豬腦酒事，子奇恰好經過，被縣學生員發現舉發，子奇遭波及入獄；子奇在獄中「遇有所得，即書之，日積月累，忽然滿卷」，出獄後集結為《草木子》一書。
《草木子》中內容多為葉子奇耳聞目睹之事，內容廣泛，舉凡天文、律歷、草木、狐鬼、時政、災亂等，廣博搜羅，足見葉子奇博學多聞。本書具有一定的文獻價值。正德年間黃衷刊刻此書，序說：「觀天之文與地之法，鬼神屈伸之故，禮樂明備之體，陰陽順逆之度，天人交與之徵，卉木蟲魚之候，器象沿革之制，農圃術技之末，幽幻玄怪之跡，窮簷委巷謠歌之語，冥搜賾攟，區物而辨才，綜百家之棼纇，列九域之風習。」
