西洋朝貢典錄是明朝黃省曾根據費信著的《星槎勝覽》馬歡著的《瀛涯勝覽》和《針位》等書在1520年編成的。這書雖是從各書編成，但伯希和、馮承鈞分別根據《西洋朝貢典錄》校正了《瀛涯勝覽》本的一些錯誤。此外《西洋朝貢典錄》所據的《針位》一書 已失傳，只在《西洋朝貢典錄》保留下一些片斷。全書分三卷：
• 卷上：述占城、真臘、爪哇、三佛齊、滿剌加、浡泥、蘇祿、彭亨、琉球九國。
• 卷中：述暹羅、阿魯、蘇門答臘、南浡里、溜山、錫蘭山、榜葛剌七國。
• 卷下：述小葛蘭、柯枝、古里、祖法兒、忽路謨斯、阿丹、天方七國。
