李顯忠 Li Xianzhong[View] [Edit] [History]ctext:990791
Li Xianzhong, originally named Li Shifu and later granted the name Li Xianzhong upon his return to the Southern Song Dynasty, was born in Qingjian, Suide Military. His family had been hereditary holders of the position of Patrol Inspector of the Sutail Nine Clans since the Tang Dynasty.According to legend, when his mother was about to give birth, she struggled for several days. A passing monk advised that the unborn child was an extraordinary boy and suggested placing a sword and arrows beside her. Shortly after, Li Xianzhong was born standing up in the birthing room, which was seen as a miraculous event.
Li Xianzhong grew to be a man of exceptional strength and valor. In 1139 (Shaoxing 9th year), he returned from the Western Xia to the Southern Song Dynasty and subsequently achieved numerous military successes, earning him recognition as one of the notable generals during the Southern Song's revival period. His bravery and leadership were unparalleled, and he held high ranks in the government.
During Emperor Xiaozong's reign, Li Xianzhong was appointed as a Grand Marshal (Da Wei). He passed away and was posthumously granted the title of Duke of Longxi County (隴西郡開国公).
Li Xianzhong's legacy is marked by his remarkable military achievements and his significant contributions to the Southern Song Dynasty.
