431年夏國皇帝赫連定派叔父北平公韋伐率軍一萬攻打西秦王乞伏暮末據守的南安城。南安城中饑饉，人相食。西秦侍中、征虜將軍出連輔政，侍中、右衛將軍乞伏延祚，吏部尚書乞伏跋跋等，逃出城去，投降了夏國。
