王素（418年 - 471年），字休業，琅邪臨沂人。南朝宋時期隱士。王素為東晉尚書右僕射王彬的後代，高祖父王翹之是東晉光祿大夫，曾祖父王望之及祖父王泰之都沒有出仕；父親王元弘則官至平固令《南史·卷二十四》記述王素家世時寫「素字休業，彬五世孫而逡之族子也。高祖翹之，晉光祿大夫。曾祖望之、祖泰之，並不仕。父元弘，位平固令。」按同傳，王逡之乃王彬的玄孫；汪藻《世說新語人名譜》以王翹之為王彬子，亦合此說。然而按記敍王彬長子王彭之子王建之生平的〈王建之墓誌〉有「建之母弟翹之」，即王翹之為王彭之子，王彬孫。。
