周官:「下地The Rites of Zhou says: "Dao Ren, in charge of cultivating low-lying land.
水澤"Planting grains on marshy and wetland areas.
相生。」It is called 'jia' because it resembles the mutual generation of a daughter being married off."
防止。」"Use pigs to manage water, use barriers to prevent flooding, use ditches to drain water, use channels to evenly distribute water, arrange shelters along the water, build sluices to release excess water, and walk through the fields while lifting weeds—this is how one cultivates rice paddies."
司農』、『』:春秋傳:『』。Zheng Siniang explained "zhu" and "fang": according to the Commentary of Spring and Autumn Annals, it says: "Tingyuan Fang, Guiyan Zhu."
』:『非一。』"Regarding 'lie she shui': 'Lie means not just one channel to drain the water.'"

Lie refers to the plots or beds in the field.
Dian is a large ditch at the end of the field for draining water.
Zuo means to cultivate or manage, similar to zhi.
前年田種。」 "Dig channels and ditches in the plots, walk through them, lift out weeds from previous years, and cultivate the field to plant rice."
芟夷"All cultivation on wetlands requires using water in summer to eliminate weeds and clear them away.
"Tian" means to weaken or destroy, to eradicate completely.
司農芟夷』:春秋傳:『芟夷Zheng Siniang explains "shan yi": according to the Commentary of Spring and Autumns Annals, it says: "Shan Yi, Yun Chong zhi."
』,下種。』"In modern times, wheat planted under rice stalks is called 'Yi Xia Mai,' meaning to cut the rice and plant wheat beneath it."
六月時行之後秋水明年。」Xuan says that those who intend to cultivate wetlands must, in the sixth month of summer during heavy rains, use water to weaken and eradicate newly sprouted weeds. By autumn when the water dries up, cut them down; only then can cultivation begin the following year."
所生芒種。」The growth of marsh grass is called Mang Zhong."
司農:『所生芒種。』"Zheng Siniang said: 'Where marsh grass grows, the land can be used to plant Mangzhong.'"
芒種。」Mang Zhong refers to rice and wheat."
