論語·衛靈公》:子曰:「吾之於人也,誰毀誰?」
The Master said, "In my dealings with men, whose evil do I blame, whose goodness do I praise, beyond what is proper?"
孟子·告子上》:令聞廣施於身,所以不願人之文繡也。
A good reputation and far-reaching praise fall to him, and he does not desire the elegant embroidered garments of men.
禮記·表記》:子曰:「君子不以口人,則民作忠。」
The Master said, 'The superior man does not confine himself to praising men with his words; and so the people prove loyal to him.'

Studying in order to cultivate it, thinking in order to refine it, making friends in order to polish it, achieving fame in order to venerate it, being untiring in order to finish it: this can be referred to as loving to learn.

To yu (praise) is to make plain what is honourable.
莊子·逍遙遊》:且舉世而之而不加勸,舉世而非之而不加沮,定乎內外之分,辯乎榮辱之竟,斯已矣。
