《莊子·齊物論》:南郭子綦隱几而坐，仰天而噓，嗒焉似喪其耦。
Nan-Guo Zi-Qi was seated, leaning forward on his stool. He was looking up to heaven and breathed gently, seeming to be in a trance, and to have lost all consciousness of any companion.
《墨子閒詁·非儒下》:莊子有南郭子綦。
《全唐詩》:南郭子綦我不識，
《廣韻·南》:南：火方亦果名臨海異物志云多南子大如指紫色味甘似梅又姓魯大夫南遺也，又漢複姓九氏左傳齊有南史氏其後爲姓又魯有南宫敬叔晉國髙士全隱於南郷因以爲氏六國時有南公子著書言五行隂陽事莊子有南郭子綦又有南榮趎古有善暴背於南榮之▼之字當删▲者獻之於君其後爲氏又有南伯子蔡姓苑有南野氏又有南門氏。
《康熙字典·十二》:《莊子·寓言篇》顏成子遊謂南郭子綦曰：汝聞人籟，而未聞地籟。
