子有含菽縕絮而致滋美其亲，将以求孝也。	A son eats coarse food and wears tattered clothing while he gives the good food and beautiful clothing to his parents, because he seeks to be filial.
人曰伪，如之何？	If some say he is a phony, what can be done about it?
曰：	Yangzi said:
“假儒衣书，服而读之，	Suppose he wore a ru's robes and read the Confucian books
三月不归，	for three months without any lapse.
孰曰非儒也？”	Who would say he was not a ru?
或曰：“何以处伪？”	The other said: How can you tell if he is a phony?
曰：“有人则作，无人则辍之谓伪。	Yangzi said: If he does it when others are around, but stops when others are not around, then he can be called phony.
观人者，	In observing people,
审其作辍而已矣。”	simply examine when they act and when they stop, and that's all.
