及入舞，When they went in for the dance,
君執干戚就舞位，the ruler, holding his shield and axe, went to the place for the performance.
君為東上， He took his station at the head of those on the east,
冕而揔干，and in his square-topped cap,, carrying his shield,
率其群臣， he led on all his officers,
以樂皇尸。 to give pleasure to the august personator of the dead.
是故天子之祭也，Hence the son of Heaven in his sacrifices
與天下樂之； (gave expression to) the joy of all in the kingdom.
諸侯之祭也，(In the same way) the feudal princes at their sacrifices
與竟內樂之。 (gave expression to) the joy of all within their territories.
冕而揔干，In their square-topped caps, and carrying their shields,
率其群臣， they led on all their officers,
以樂皇尸， to give joy to the august personators
此與竟內樂之之義也。- with the idea of showing the joy of all within their territories.
