唯天下至圣，It is only he, possessed of all sagely qualities that can exist under heaven,
为能聪明睿知，who shows himself quick in apprehension, clear in discernment, of far-reaching intelligence, and all-embracing knowledge,
足以有临也； fitted to exercise rule;
宽裕温柔，magnanimous, generous, benign, and mild,
足以有容也； fitted to exercise forbearance;
发强刚毅，impulsive, energetic, firm, and enduring,
足以有执也； fitted to maintain a firm hold;
齐庄中正，self-adjusted, grave, never swerving from the Mean, and correct,
足以有敬也； fitted to command reverence;
文理密察，accomplished, distinctive, concentrative, and searching,
足以有别也。 fitted to exercise discrimination.
溥博渊泉，All-embracing is he and vast, deep and active as a fountain,
而时出之。 sending forth in their due season his virtues.
溥博如天，All-embracing and vast, he is like Heaven.
渊泉如渊。Deep and active as a fountain, he is like the abyss.
见而民莫不敬，He is seen, and the people all reverence him;
言而民莫不信，he speaks, and the people all believe him;
行而民莫不说。he acts, and the people all are pleased with him.
是以声名洋溢乎中国， Therefore his fame overspreads the Middle Kingdom,
施及蛮貊； and extends to all barbarous tribes.
舟车所至， Wherever ships and carriages reach;
人力所通， wherever the strength of man penetrates;
天之所覆，wherever the heavens overshadow
地之所载， and the earth sustains;
日月所照， wherever the sun and moon shine;
霜露所队； wherever frosts and dews fall:
凡有血气者，-all who have blood and breath
莫不尊亲， unfeignedly honor and love him.
故曰配天。Hence it is said, "He is the equal of Heaven."
