彼黍離離、There was the millet with its drooping heads;
彼稷之實。There was the sacrificial millet in grain.
行邁靡靡、Slowly I moved about,
中心如噎。As if there were a stoppage at my heart.
知我者、Those who knew me,
謂我心憂、Said I was sad at heart.
不知我者、Those who did not know me,
謂我何求。Said I was seeking for something.
悠悠蒼天、O thou distant and azure Heaven!
此何人哉。By what man was this [brought about]?
