伐木丁丁、On the trees go the blows zheng-zheng;
鸟鸣嘤嘤。And the birds cry out ying-ying.
出自幽谷、One issues from the dark valley,
迁于乔木。And removes to the lofty tree,
嘤其鸣矣、While ying goes its cry,
求其友声。Seeking with its voice its companion.
相彼鸟矣、Look at the bird,
犹求友声。Bird as it is, seeking with its voice its companion;
矧伊人矣、And shall a man,
不求友生。Not seek to have his friends?
神之听之、Spiritual beings will then hearken to him;
终和且平。He shall have harmony and peace.
