维此王季、The king Ji,
帝度其心、Was gifted by God with the power of judgement,
貊其德音。So that the fame of his virtue silently grew.
其德克明、His virtue was highly intelligent; -
克明克类、Highly intelligent and of rare discrimination;
克长克君。Able to lead, able to rule, -
王此大邦、To rule over this great country;
克顺克比。Rendering a cordial submission, effecting a cordial union.
比于文王、When [the sway] came to king Wen,
其德靡悔。His virtue left nothing to be dissatisfied with.
既受帝祉、He received the blessing of God,
施于孙子。And it was extended to his descendants.
