嗟嗟臣工、Ah! Ah! ministers and officers,
敬爾在公。Reverently attend to your public duties.
王釐爾成、The king has given you perfect rules; -
來咨來茹。Consult about them and consider them.
嗟嗟保介、Ah! Ah! ye assistants,
維莫之春、It is now the end of spring;
亦又何求、And what have ye to seek for?
如何新畬。[Only] how to manage the new fields and those of the third year.
於皇來牟、How beautiful are the wheat and the barley,
將受厥明。Whose bright produce we shall receive!
明昭上帝、The bright and glorious God.
迄用康年。Will in them give us a good year.
命我眾人、Order all our men,
庤乃錢鎛、To be provided with their spuds and hoes:
奄觀銍艾。Anon we shall see the sickles at work.
