閔予小子、Alas for me, who am [as] a little child,
遭家不造、On whom has devolved the unsettled State!
嬛嬛在疚。Solitary am I and full of distress.
於乎皇考、Oh! my great Father,
永世克孝。All thy life long, thou wast filial.
念茲皇祖、Thou didst think of my great grandfather,
陟降庭止。[Seeing him, as it were,] ascending and descending in the court.
維予小子、I, the little child,
夙夜敬止。Day and night will be so reverent.
於乎皇王、Oh! ye great kings,
繼序思不忘。As your successor, I will strive not to forget you.
