儒家 -> 孝经 -> 士 -> 1

资于事父以事母，"As they serve their fathers, so they serve their mothers,
而爱同； and they love them equally.
资于事父以事君，As they serve their fathers, so they serve their rulers,
而敬同。 and they reverence them equally.
故母取其爱， Hence love is what is chiefly rendered to the mother,
而君取其敬， and reverence is what is chiefly rendered to the ruler,
兼之者父也。 while both of these things are given to the father.
故以孝事君则忠，Therefore when they serve their ruler with filial piety, they are loyal;
以敬事长则顺。when they serve their superiors with reverence, they are obedient.
忠顺不失，Not failing in this loyalty and obedience
以事其上， in serving those above them,
然后能保其禄位， they are then able to preserve their emoluments and positions,
而守其祭祀。 and to maintain their sacrifices.
盖士之孝也。This is the filial piety of inferior officers.
《诗》云：It is said in the Book of Poetry:
“夙兴夜寐， Rising early and going to sleep late,
无忝尔所生”。 Do not disgrace those who gave you birth."
