王曰：The king said,
「父義和！ 'Uncle Yi-he,
其歸視爾師，return home, survey your multitudes,
寧爾邦。 and tranquillize your state.
用賚爾秬一鬯卣，I reward you with a jar of spirits, distilled from the black millet, and flavoured with odoriferous herbs,
彤弓一， with a red bow,
彤矢百， and a hundred red arrows;
盧弓一， with a black bow,
盧矢百， and a hundred black arrows;
馬四匹。 and with four horses.
父往哉！Go, my uncle.
柔遠能邇，Show kindness to those that are far off, and help those who are near at hand;
惠康小民， cherish and secure the repose of the inferior people;
無荒寧。 do not idly seek your ease;
簡恤爾都， exercise an inspection and (benign) compassion in your capital (and all your borders)
用成爾顯德。」- thus completing your illustrious virtue.'
