夫气谓何气也？What kind of fluid is understood by fluid?
如谓阴阳之气，阴阳之气不能饱人。If the fluid of the Yin and the Yang be meant, this fluid cannot satiate people.
人或咽气，气满腹胀，不能餍饱。They may inhale this fluid, so that it fills their belly and bowels, yet they cannot feel satiated.
如谓百药之气， If the fluid inherent in medicine be meant,
人或服药，食一合屑， man may use and eat a case full of dry drugs,
吞数十丸， or swallow some ten pills.
药力烈盛， But the effects of medicine are very strong.
胸中愦毒， They cause great pain in the chest,
不能饱人。 but cannot feed a man.
