道家 -> 莊子 -> 外篇 -> 知北遊 -> 6.1

東郭子問於莊子曰：Dong-guo Zi asked Zhuangzi, saying,
「所謂道，惡乎在？」 'Where is what you call the Dao to be found?'
莊子曰： Zhuangzi replied,
「無所不在。」 'Everywhere.'
東郭子曰： The other said,
「期而後可。」'Specify an instance of it. That will be more satisfactory.'
莊子曰：
「在螻蟻。」 ' It is here in this ant.'
曰：
「何其下邪？」 'Give a lower instance.'
曰：
「在稊稗。」 'It is in this panic grass.'
曰：
「何其愈下邪？」 'Give me a still lower instance.'
曰：
「在瓦甓。」 'It is in this earthenware tile.'
曰：
「何其愈甚邪？」 'Surely that is the lowest instance?'
曰：
「在屎溺。」 'It is in that excrement.'
東郭子不應。 To this Dong-guo Zi gave no reply.
