五月三月之喪，壹不食再不食可也。During the mourning for five months, and that for three months, it was allowable to abstain from eating once or twice.
比葬，食肉飲酒，不與人樂之。叔母、世母、故主、宗子食肉飲酒。不能食粥，羹之以菜可也；有疾，食肉飲酒可也。五十不成喪，七十唯衰麻在身。 Between the coffining and burial, when eating flesh and drinking liquor, they did not take the enjoyment of these things in company with others. At seventy, he simply wore the sackcloth on his person.
