儒家 -> 礼记 -> 祭统 -> 14

是故君子之事君也，Therefore a superior man, in the service of his ruler,
必身行之， should find (guidance for) all his personal conduct.
所不安于上， What does not satisfy him in (the behaviour of) his superiors,
则不以使下； he will not show in his employment of those below himself;
所恶于下， and what he dislikes in the behaviour of those below him,
则不以事上； he will not show in the service of his superiors.
非诸人， To disapprove of anything in another,
行诸己， and do the same himself,
非教之道也。 is contrary to the rule of instruction.
是故君子之教也， Therefore the superior in the inculcation of his lessons,
必由其本， ought to proceed from the foundation (of all duty).
顺之至也， This will show him pursuing the greatest method of what is natural and right in the highest degree;
祭其是与？ and is not this what is seen in sacrifice?
故曰：Hence we have the saying that
祭者，教之本也已。 'The first and greatest teaching is to be found in sacrifice.'
