喪有四制，The mourning dress has its four definite fashions and styles,
變而從宜， the changes in which are always according to what is right
取之四時也。- this is derived from the (changes of the) four seasons.
有恩有理，Now, affection predominates; now, nice distinctions;
有節有權，now, defined regulations; and now, the consideration of circumstances
取之人情也。- all these are derived from the human feelings.
恩者仁也， In affection we have benevolence;
理者義也，in nice distinctions, righteousness;
節者禮也，in defined regulations, propriety;
權者知也。and in the consideration of circumstances, knowledge.
仁義禮智，Benevolence, righteousness, propriety, and knowledge
人道具矣。 - these make up the characteristic attributes of humanity.
