齐将伐鲁，Qi was going to attack Lu.
子墨子谓项子牛曰： Mozi said to Xiang Zi Niu:
“伐鲁，To attack Lu
齐之大过也。 is a great wrong on the part of Qi.
昔者， Formerly,
吴王东伐越，the Lord of Wu attacked Yue on the east
栖诸会稽， and drove (Lord Gou Jian of Yue) to take refuge upon Guiji.
西伐楚，He attacked Chu on the west
葆昭王于随。 and hold fast Lord Zhao at Sui.
北伐齐，On the north he attacked Qi
取国子以归于吴。 and brought Guozi back to Wu.
诸侯报其雠，The feudal lords then took vengeance
百姓苦其劳，and his people complained of the hardship
而弗为用， and would not be commanded.
是以国为虚戾，Thereupon the state perished
身为刑戮也。 and the Lord of Wu was executed.
昔者， Formerly,
智伯伐范氏与中行氏， Zhi Bo attacked both the house of Fan and the house of Zhongxing,
兼三晋之地， and absorbed all the land of the Three Jin states.
诸侯报其雠，The feudal lords then took vengeance
百姓苦其劳，and his people complained of the hardship
而弗为用， and would not be commanded.
是以国为虚戾，Thereupon the state perished
身为刑戮用是也。 and he was executed.
故大国之攻小国也，Therefore the attack of a large state on a small state
是交相贼也，is injury to both
过必反于国。” and the consequences of the wrong will always return to the large state.
