仲冬之月，日在斗，昏东壁中，旦轸中。In the second month of winter the sun is in Dou, the constellation culminating at dusk being the eastern Bi, and that culminating at dawn Zhen.
其日壬癸。Its days are ren and gui.
其帝颛顼，其神玄冥。Its divine ruler is Zhuan-xu, and the (attending) spirit is Xuan-ming.
其虫介。Its creatures are the shell-covered.
其音羽，律中黄锺。Its musical note is Yu, and its pitch-tube is Huang Zhong.
其数六。Its number is six.
其味咸， Its taste is salt.
其臭朽。 Its smell is that of things that are rotten.
其祀行， Its sacrifice is that at (the altar of) the path,
祭先肾。 and of the parts of the victim the kidneys have the foremost place.
