曰：「末之也已，何必公山氏之之也？」子曰：「夫召我者
而岂徒哉？如有用我者，吾其为东周乎！」
佛肸召，子欲往。子路曰：「昔者由也闻诸夫子曰：
佛肸以中牟畔，子之往也，如之何？」子曰：「然，有是
言也。不曰乎？磨而不磷；不曰乎？涅而不缁。吾岂匏瓜
也哉？焉能系而不食！」
※：逝者如斯，时不我待。圣人两次蠢蠢欲动想「为东周」，竟至饥不择食，差点犯原则性错误，何至于斯！幸为贤徒子路两次坚阻，方免了身败名裂。否则圣将弗圣，吾太华无圣矣。中国素以上下五千年不间断历史骄人，如果没有孔圣人，中华民族就像一条没有点睛的龙。可见圣人有时也难免会犯错，正如他自己所言，「若圣与仁，则吾岂敢？」（《泰伯》）
