孔德之容，惟道是从。道之为物，惟恍惟惚。
惚兮恍兮，其中有象；恍兮惚兮，其中有物。窈兮
冥兮，其中有精；其精甚真，其中有信。自今及古，
其名不去，以阅众甫。吾何以知众甫之状哉？以此。
※：「其名不去」。与第一章「名可名，非常名」似乎自相矛盾，王弼辯道：「无名则是其名也。」
「以閱眾甫」和「眾甫之状」之「甫」，马王堆甲乙本皆作「父」。言天地之父也。「有名，万物之母」，既有母必有父。《書·泰誓》：「惟天地萬物父母「。王何本皆作「甫」，解作始，恐非。

《説文》曰：甫，从用、父，父亦聲。蓋『父』，『甫』通假。 |
