Posted by: ciccotti (Jesse Ciccotti)In the 1895 version of Legge's translation, the line of Chinese text in CText that reads 見且由不得亟,而況得而臣之乎?is rendered in Legge's version (p. 452) as 見且猶不得亟,而況得而臣之乎? with the difference being 由 vs. 猶. Of the several Chinese versions I have looked at, they all carry the CText version of 由. Is Legge's version an error? Or are there textual variants, and should that be mentioned in a note for this text?
