直卿问：「『利贞诚之复』，如先生注下言，『复』如伏藏。」先生曰「复只是回来，这个是周先生添此一句。孔子只说『乾道变化，各正性命』。」又曰：「这个物事又记是「气」字。流行到这里来，这里住著，却又复从这里做起。」又曰：「如母子相似。未生之时，母无气不能生其子，既生之后，子自是子，母自是母。」又曰：「如树上开一花，结一子，未到利贞处，尚是运下面气去荫又记是「养」字。他；及他到利贞处，自不用养。」又记是「恁他」字。又问：「自一念之萌以至于事之得其所，是一事之元亨利贞？」先生应之曰：「他又自这里做起，所谓『生生之谓易』，也是恁地。」又记曰：「气行到这里住著，便立在这里。既立在这里，则又从这里做起。」节
