欒枝，一植物花之名，不同於欒樹之花。欒樹之花長在枝上。欒枝之花長在欒枝這灌木植物之梗上，花開時，花花相戀擁抱似的不見其梗。綱上可見之。
宋楊萬里《瑞香》：「齊開忽作欒枝錦，未坼猶疑常素馨。
《瑞香盛開……》詩：「同花異葉株株異，一種欒枝節節欒。」
《紅錦帶花）詩：「天如風稜織露機，碧絲地上茜欒枝。」
《新晴西園散步……：「日搖波影纏橋柱，繡出欒枝遍地花。」
《己未春日山居雜興》：「即今徧地欒枝錦，不則梢頭幾點紅。」
楊氏詩的「欒枝」，是他以欒樹枝開的花來省字法稱爲欒枝？還是以爲瑞香花就是欒枝花？又還是以欒枝花形容瑞香花，或他花，例如紅棉花？不得而知，故說不准。但有一點肯定的是，楊氏的「欒枝」，決不是那位春秋時一名欒枝「曳柴以敗荆」的人物。是肯定而且相信是說花的。
還有，瑞香花，是灌木植物的花。欒枝花，亦是灌木植物的花。
所以，欒枝，除了人名外，應有一項：一植物花之名也。
宋董嗣杲《南天兰花》詩：「碎顆綠攢知暑過，欒枝紅透得霜侵。」
宋葛立方《正月十日小園瑞香盛開》詩：「欒枝識嘉種，桐葉認真香。」
