The 三民書局：四書讀本 gives the latter pronounciation, whereas both the 正中形音義綜合大字典 and the 五南：國語活用辭典 list the former pronounciation (while quoting the above passage from the 大學 as an example of that particular usage).
According to the commentary, 謙 should be read as 慊。However, 慊 can be pronounced in both ways... |

This seems to contradict the dictionary's own listed pronunciation (I previously misspelled the word) of ㄑㄧㄢˋ (qian4), since 愜 is pronounced ㄑㄧㄝˋ (qie4). |
