The 三民书局：四书读本 gives the latter pronounciation, whereas both the 正中形音义综合大字典 and the 五南：国语活用辞典 list the former pronounciation (while quoting the above passage from the 大学 as an example of that particular usage).
According to the commentary, 谦 should be read as 慊。However, 慊 can be pronounced in both ways... |

This seems to contradict the dictionary's own listed pronunciation (I previously misspelled the word) of ㄑㄧㄢˋ (qian4), since 惬 is pronounced ㄑㄧㄝˋ (qie4). |
