| Wang Hong was a son of Wang Mang's uncle Pinga Hou Tan. When Wang Mang usurped the throne, he secretly resented Hong and therefore exiled him as governor of Dongjun Prefecture. Hong feared execution, so he often kept medicine tied to his hands. After Wang Mang's downfall and the rise of Han forces, Hong alone remained intact. |
