The death of a high-ranking official should be recorded only after the lord's command has been received. Why must one wait for the lord's command before recording the death of a high-ranking official? Before this, Yingqi fled to Jin, and when the Duke met with Jin Hou, they were about to arrest the Duke. Yingqi pleaded on behalf of the Duke; the Duke agreed that Yingqi could return as a high-ranking official, and he went back. He died upon reaching Lizhen. Without the lord's command, one dares not record the death of a high-ranking official. When the Duke arrived, he said, "I had already promised that he could return as a high-ranking official." Only then was his death recorded.
