散势者，神之使也。用之，必循间而动。威肃内盛，推间而行之，则势散。夫散势者，心虚志溢；意衰威失，精神不专，其言外而多变。故观其志意，为度数，乃以揣说图事，尽圆方，齐短长。无则不散势者，待间而动，动而势分矣。故善思间者，必内精五气，外视虚实，动而不失分散之实。动则随其志意，知其计谋。势者，利害之决，权变之威。势败者，不以神肃察也。 |
| | Sanshi zhe, shen zhi shi ye. Using it, one must act in accordance with its nature. When authority is strictly maintained internally and actions are taken in accordance with the intervals, then power will disperse. He who disperses power has a vacuous mind and overflowing ambition; His will wanes and authority is lost; his spirit and energy are not focused, so his words are outward-directed and frequently changing. Therefore, by observing one's will and intent, establish measurements and standards; then use these to estimate and discuss matters, fully encompassing both roundness and squareness, aligning the short with the long. He who does not disperse power without principles waits for the right moment to act; once he acts, his strength will be divided. Therefore, those who are good at considering the right moment must internally refine the five vital energies and externally observe strengths and weaknesses; they act without losing the reality of dispersing power. When they act, their actions follow their will and intent; thus, one can know their strategies and plans. Power is the decisive factor between benefit and harm; it is also the authority of flexible change. Those who fail in power are not due to a lack of spiritual vigilance and scrutiny.
